This wonderful island offers very different choices such as beautiful ancient cities and sites, Sandy beaches, friendly people, and hotels of all categories. Our Airport representative will explain everything in detail from the welcome meeting at the airport.
Our unit of currency is the Sri Lankan Rupee (LKR). Money can be changed in the hotel, although banks offer a better rate. Sterling, Euro and US Dollars are equally acceptable for exchange. If you have any Sri Lankan Rupees left, they can be reconverted at the Airport Bank (24hrs). Please retain your money-changing receipts.

Sri Lankans are kind and helpful to visitors. However, if you need to find your way around, please use the services of trained and registered Tourist Guides. They carry licenses issued by the Sri Lanka tourist board. Please beware of touts. We recommend you do not accept their wares, trade, change money or go on unauthorized trips/ visits/ excursions with anyone who approaches you on the beach or street. We cannot take any responsibility if you take any movements with unauthorized persons.

– Tap water (bottled mineral water can be bought anywhere).
– Raw vegetables / lettuce
– Fruits without skin
– Due to high humidity and heat, you could dehydrated. Drink water at every opportunity. If you do not feel thirsty, add enough salt to your meals to avoid dehydration. Protect your body from powerful sunrays.
Photographs can be taken everywhere except high security zones, although you may need a permit at some sites. Your chauffer guide, tour guide or tour leader will inform you where you need to pay for your cameras and prohibited areas. Posing alongside or with religious statues is not permitted.
Though not an essential part of Sri Lankan culture, the influx of tourism has now made tipping a normal practice. However, remember that tips are voluntary and should reflect your satisfaction with the service provided. Please feel free to offer tips to hotel staff, chauffer / tour guide / tour leaders.
The hotels expect guests to check out between 11.00 to 12.00hrs. However, you can leave your luggage in the hotel luggage room.
